UV filter with world-wide approval – effective and COSMOS certified

In the last few years, there has been a continuously increasing demand for sunscreen products offering a broad-spectrum protection not only against UVB radiation, but also against UVA radiation, which penetrates into deeper layers of the skin and as such has carcinogenic potential with regard to skin cancer. While there is a large number of UV filter systems for the UVB range available, only a handful of UV filters are actually approved for the UVA range. This also includes zinc oxide, which has been recently approved for this area of application.

Our zinc oxide product Grillo UV ProTec^® has been formulated on the basis of zinc oxide of pharmaceutical grading and is distinguished by being easily integrable into other formulations. Thanks to its refraction index, which is higher than that of titanium dioxide (another substance often used for that purpose), zinc oxide is characterised by a significantly better degree of on-skin transparency than formulations using titanium dioxide of the same particle size. This enables the creation of state-of-the-art mineral-based sunscreen formulations which have the potential of providing a good haptic experience and leave no white traces on the skin and are therefore likely to meet with a high degree of consumer acceptance.

The zinc oxide product Grillo UV ProTec^® has a world-wide approval as a UV filter and is also C OSMOS-certified. This means it can be used both in classical and in natural cosmetics varieties of sunscreen formulations.
